25:1 And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying,25:2 Speak unto the children of Israel, that they bring me an offering: of every man that giveth it willingly with his heart ye shall take my offering.25:3 And this [is] the offering which ye shall take of them; gold, and silver, and brass,25:4 And blue, and purple, and scarlet, and fine linen, and goats' [hair],25:5 And rams' skins dyed red, and badgers' skins, and shittim wood,25:6 Oil for the light, spices for anointing oil, and for sweet incense,25:7 Onyx stones, and stones to be set in the ephod, and in the breastplate.25:8 And let them make me a sanctuary; that I may dwell among them.25:9 According to all that I show thee, [after] the pattern of the tabernacle, and the pattern of all the instruments thereof, even so shall ye make [it]. And the LORD showed him all the land of Gilead, unto Dan,34:2 And all Naphtali, and the land of Ephraim, and Manasseh, and all the land of Judah, unto the utmost sea,34:3 And the south, and the plain of the valley of Jericho, the city of palm trees, unto Zoar.34:4 And the LORD said unto him, This [is] the land which I sware unto Abraham, unto Isaac, and unto Jacob, saying, I will give it unto thy seed: I have caused thee to see [it] with thine eyes, but thou shalt not go over thither.34:5 So Moses the servant of the LORD died there in the land of Moab, according to the word of the LORD.34:6 And he buried him in a valley in the land of Moab, over against Bethpeor: but no man knoweth of his sepulchre unto this day. So the girl went and called the babys mother. After God raised Moses He took Moses to Heaven. At that time Jochebed made a little floating basket which could hold Moses and after asking God to protect him she placed him in the Nile River. Mariam stayed with the basket until Pharaoh's daughter found it and opened it. Amram and Jochebed became the parents of Aaron, Moses, and their sister, Miriam. And the people bowed the head and worshipped.12:28 And the children of Israel went away, and did as the LORD had commanded Moses and Aaron, so did they.12:29 And it came to pass, that at midnight the LORD smote all the firstborn in the land of Egypt, from the firstborn of Pharaoh that sat on his throne unto the firstborn of the captive that [was] in the dungeon; and all the firstborn of cattle.12:30 And Pharaoh rose up in the night, he, and all his servants, and all the Egyptians; and there was a great cry in Egypt; for [there was] not a house where [there was] not one dead.12:31 And he called for Moses and Aaron by night, and said, Rise up, [and] get you forth from among my people, both ye and the children of Israel; and go, serve the LORD, as ye have said.12:32 Also take your flocks and your herds, as ye have said, and be gone; and bless me also. Moses was about 80 years old when God appeared to him in a burning bush and called him to return to Egypt (Exodus 7:7; Acts 7:23, 30). Yahweh acknowledged the defect but promised to help him express himself. Because of that one sin(not doing exactly as God had asked)Moses was told that he would not be allowed into the Promised Land(Canaan). And Moses hid his face; for he was afraid to look upon God.3:7 And the LORD said, I have surely seen the affliction of my people which [are] in Egypt, and have heard their cry by reason of their taskmasters; for I know their sorrows;3:8 And I am come down to deliver them out of the hand of the Egyptians, and to bring them up out of that land unto a good land and a large, unto a land flowing with milk and honey; unto the place of the Canaanites, and the Hittites, and the Amorites, and the Perizzites, and the Hivites, and the Jebusites.3:9 Now therefore, behold, the cry of the children of Israel is come unto me: and I have also seen the oppression wherewith the Egyptians oppress them.3:10 Come now therefore, and I will send thee unto Pharaoh, that thou mayest bring forth my people the children of Israel out of Egypt.3:11 And Moses said unto God, Who [am] I, that I should go unto Pharaoh, and that I should bring forth the children of Israel out of Egypt?3:12 And he said, Certainly I will be with thee; and this [shall be] a token unto thee, that I have sent thee: When thou hast brought forth the people out of Egypt, ye shall serve God upon this mountain.3:13 And Moses said unto God, Behold, [when] I come unto the children of Israel, and shall say unto them, The God of your fathers hath sent me unto you; and they shall say to me, What [is] his name? Inasmuch as tradition figured about 12 generations from Moses to Solomon, the reference to 480 years is most likely an editorial comment allowing 40 years for each generation. God gave Moses specific directions on what to do and say. One of his own knew his secret and soon Pharaoh would, too. This time, however, he found two Hebrews fighting. The Bible says that God was their Guide. With brother Aaron, he now approached the Pharaoh, telling him to let go his people because the God of Israel had demanded so. Jethro said, "Go, and I wish you well.". Moses was very disappointed that he could not go into Canaan, but He still trusted in His Creator. why sittest thou thyself alone, and all the people stand by thee from morning unto even?18:15 And Moses said unto his father in law, Because the people come unto me to inquire of God:18:16 When they have a matter, they come unto me; and I judge between one and another, and I do make [them] know the statutes of God, and his laws.18:17 And Moses' father in law said unto him, The thing that thou doest [is] not good.18:18 Thou wilt surely wear away, both thou, and this people that [is] with thee: for this thing [is] too heavy for thee; thou art not able to perform it thyself alone.18:19 Hearken now unto my voice, I will give thee counsel, and God shall be with thee: Be thou for the people to God-ward, that thou mayest bring the causes unto God:18:20 And thou shalt teach them ordinances and laws, and shalt show them the way wherein they must walk, and the work that they must do.18:21 Moreover thou shalt provide out of all the people able men, such as fear God, men of truth, hating covetousness; and place [such] over them, [to be] rulers of thousands, [and] rulers of hundreds, rulers of fifties, and rulers of tens:18:22 And let them judge the people at all seasons: and it shall be, [that] every great matter they shall bring unto thee, but every small matter they shall judge: so shall it be easier for thyself, and they shall bear [the burden] with thee.18:23 If thou shalt do this thing, and God command thee [so], then thou shalt be able to endure, and all this people shall also go to their place in peace.18:24 So Moses hearkened to the voice of his father in law, and did all that he had said.18:25 And Moses chose able men out of all Israel, and made them heads over the people, rulers of thousands, rulers of hundreds, rulers of fifties, and rulers of tens.18:26 And they judged the people at all seasons: the hard causes they brought unto Moses, but every small matter they judged themselves.18:27 And Moses let his father in law depart; and he went his way into his own land. your murmurings [are] not against us, but against the LORD.16:9 And Moses spake unto Aaron, Say unto all the congregation of the children of Israel, Come near before the LORD: for he hath heard your murmurings.16:10 And it came to pass, as Aaron spake unto the whole congregation of the children of Israel, that they looked toward the wilderness, and, behold, the glory of the LORD appeared in the cloud.16:11 And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying,16:12 I have heard the murmurings of the children of Israel: speak unto them, saying, At even ye shall eat flesh, and in the morning ye shall be filled with bread; and ye shall know that I [am] the LORD your God.16:13 And it came to pass, that at even the quails came up, and covered the camp: and in the morning the dew lay round about the host.16:14 And when the dew that lay was gone up, behold, upon the face of the wilderness [there lay] a small round thing, [as] small as the hoar frost on the ground.16:15 And when the children of Israel saw [it], they said one to another, It [is] manna: for they wist not what it [was]. Long live the king!". He was instructed "in all the wisdom of the Egyptians, and he . Moses returns to Egypt and, as God had promised, pharaoh's heart is hardened against him. (A "ephah" was about 22 liters or about 20.8 quarts.). How old was moses when he left Egypt in to the desert? Earlier this month, the Texas Senate passed a bill requiring the Ten Commandments to be displayed in every classroom in the Lone Star State. 24:18 And Moses went into the midst of the cloud, and gat him up into the mount: and Moses was in the mount forty days and forty nights. When Jesus was "Transfigured" on the mountain, one of the two people who spoke with Jesus was Moses. When he found an Egyptian taskmaster beating a Hebrew, probably to death, he could control his sense of justice no longer. 15:22 So Moses brought Israel from the Red sea, and they went out into the wilderness of Shur; and they went three days in the wilderness, and found no water.15:23 And when they came to Marah, they could not drink of the waters of Marah, for they [were] bitter: therefore the name of it was called Marah.15:24 And the people murmured against Moses, saying, What shall we drink?15:25 And he cried unto the LORD; and the LORD showed him a tree, [which] when he had cast into the waters, the waters were made sweet: there he made for them a statute and an ordinance, and there he proved them. It is obvious why he didn't . God had a much better plan for him. He had spent the first 40 years of his life in the household of the Pharaoh, ruler of Egypt and then 40 years in the desert as a shepherd, before he returned to . )As mentioned above, God had a much better plan for Moses than just being able to go into Canaan. The babys sister then stood at a distance, watching to see what would happen to him. Yes, do! the princess replied. Miriam complains about Moses and is given leprosy for 7 days. Amram lived long enough to see Moses' great-grandkids, his own great-great-grandchildren, 2 and mentor Ahijah the Shilonite. When the princess saw the basket among the reeds, she sent her maid to get it for her. The first 40 years of his life werespent in Egypt, learning first from his mother about God(for 12 years), and then learning from Pharaoh the skills needed to run Egypt. . When Moses heard that, he fled the country and lived as a foreigner in the land of Midian. And he cast it on the ground, and it became a serpent; and Moses fled from before it.4:4 And the LORD said unto Moses, Put forth thine hand, and take it by the tail. But when she could no longer hide him, she got a basket made of papyrus reeds and waterproofed it with tar and pitch. The underlying reason was probably fearhe had fled from Seti I, and he did not relish confrontation with Ramses II. He returned to Egypt, and 10 plagues ravaged. . Israelites are told that they will spend 40 years in the wilderness, because they did not trust God to do what was needed. Then the babys sister approached the princess. I know that he can speak well. and Amrams wife was named Jochebed. 17:1 And all the congregation of the children of Israel journeyed from the wilderness of Sin, after their journeys, according to the commandment of the LORD, and pitched in Rephidim: and [there was] no water for the people to drink.17:2 Wherefore the people did chide with Moses, and said, Give us water that we may drink. Scripture tells us Moses was 40 when the Egyptian struck the slave: Acts 7:22-29. speak unto the children of Israel, that they go forward:14:16 But lift thou up thy rod, and stretch out thine hand over the sea, and divide it: and the children of Israel shall go on dry [ground] through the midst of the sea.14:17 And I, behold, I will harden the hearts of the Egyptians, and they shall follow them: and I will get me honour upon Pharaoh, and upon all his host, upon his chariots, and upon his horsemen.14:18 And the Egyptians shall know that I [am] the LORD, when I have gotten me honour upon Pharaoh, upon his chariots, and upon his horsemen.14:19 And the angel of God, which went before the camp of Israel, removed and went behind them; and the pillar of the cloud went from before their face, and stood behind them:14:20 And it came between the camp of the Egyptians and the camp of Israel; and it was a cloud and darkness [to them], but it gave light by night [to these]: so that the one came not near the other all the night.14:21 And Moses stretched out his hand over the sea; and the LORD caused the sea to go [back] by a strong east wind all that night, and made the sea dry [land], and the waters were divided.14:22 And the children of Israel went into the midst of the sea upon the dry [ground]: and the waters [were] a wall unto them on their right hand, and on their left.14:23 And the Egyptians pursued, and went in after them to the midst of the sea, [even] all Pharaoh's horses, his chariots, and his horsemen.14:24 And it came to pass, that in the morning watch the LORD looked unto the host of the Egyptians through the pillar of fire and of the cloud, and troubled the host of the Egyptians,14:25 And took off their chariot wheels, that they drave them heavily: so that the Egyptians said, Let us flee from the face of Israel; for the LORD fighteth for them against the Egyptians.14:26 And the LORD said unto Moses, Stretch out thine hand over the sea, that the waters may come again upon the Egyptians, upon their chariots, and upon their horsemen.14:27 And Moses stretched forth his hand over the sea, and the sea returned to his strength when the morning appeared; and the Egyptians fled against it; and the LORD overthrew the Egyptians in the midst of the sea.14:28 And the waters returned, and covered the chariots, and the horsemen, [and] all the host of Pharaoh that came into the sea after them; there remained not so much as one of them.14:29 But the children of Israel walked upon dry [land] in the midst of the sea; and the waters [were] a wall unto them on their right hand, and on their left.14:30 Thus the LORD saved Israel that day out of the hand of the Egyptians; and Israel saw the Egyptians dead upon the sea shore.14:31 And Israel saw that great work which the LORD did upon the Egyptians: and the people feared the LORD, and believed the LORD, and his servant Moses. Like Sinuhe, the Egyptian court official whose flight in about 1960 bce was narrated in a famous story, Moses undoubtedly had to filter through the Wall of the Ruler, a series of forts at the eastern border, approximately where the Suez Canal is now located. 13:21 And the LORD went before them by day in a pillar of a cloud, to lead them the way; and by night in a pillar of fire, to give them light; to go by day and night:13:22 He took not away the pillar of the cloud by day, nor the pillar of fire by night, [from] before the people. What is said though, tells us a great deal. Apparently Moses was ready to play the role of God to Pharaoh providing Aaron would serve as his prophet. He aspired to defeat the Hittites and control all of Syria, but in the fifth year of his reign Ramses walked into a Hittite trap laid for him at Kadesh, on the Orontes River in Syria. 23 And when he was full forty years old, it came into his heart to visit his brethren the children of Israel. The Bible does not say a lot about the early life of Moses, but we do know this much: For further study, (if you have not read it already) read: When Moses was a full 40 years old (Acts 7:23) he came upon an Egyptian who was beating an Israelite slave. However, outside Egyptian sources tell us it was common practice for new pharaohs to pardon criminals for their crimes, creating a "clean slate" from which to begin their rule of law. God reassured Moses that in the future he and the Hebrews would worship at this mountain. Moses returned to Egypt, possibly at the age of forty, during the reign of Ramses II. There his two sons were born. Jethro gave him his blessing, and Moses set out for Egypt. Sorted by: 9. Further complicating the dating of the event is that Exodus 7:7 states that Moses was 80 years old when he first met with pharaoh but Moses' birthdate is given by Rabbinical Judaism as 1391 BCE making the 1446 BCE date impossible and there are plenty . As a prince in the court, Moses was probably in excellent physical condition, and apparently he knew the latest methods of combat. The God of the fathers had been known mostly as El Elyon (God Most High) or El Shaddai (God of the Mountain or Almighty God), but he identified himself to Moses as Yahweh and gave instructions that he was to be called by his new name from then on. What did Moses do when he returned to Egypt? One of the measures taken by the Egyptians to restrict the growth of the Hebrews was to order the death of all newborn Hebrew males. According to tradition, Moses parents, Amram and Jochebed (whose other children were Aaron and Miriam), hid him for three months and then set him afloat on the Nile in a reed basket daubed with pitch. 2:15 Now when Pharaoh heard this thing, he sought to slay Moses. And Jethro said to Moses, Go in peace.4:19 And the LORD said unto Moses in Midian, Go, return into Egypt: for all the men are dead which sought thy life. 9:9 When I was gone up into the mount to receive the tables of stone, [even] the tables of the covenant which the LORD made with you, then I abode in the mount forty days and forty nights, I neither did eat bread nor drink water:9:10 And the LORD delivered unto me two tables of stone written with the finger of God; and on them [was written] according to all the words, which the LORD spake with you in the mount out of the midst of the fire in the day of the assembly.9:11 And it came to pass at the end of forty days and forty nights, [that] the LORD gave me the two tables of stone, [even] the tables of the covenant. In retaliation, Yahweh imposed a series of 10 plagues, the last being the killing the firstborn of every Egyptian. Moses returned to Egypt to seek the release of the Hebrews and to bring them to Canaan, but when he approached the pharaoh, Ramses refused to release the Hebrews. why [is] it [that] ye have left the man? Turn from thy fierce wrath, and repent of this evil against thy people.32:13 Remember Abraham, Isaac, and Israel, thy servants, to whom thou swarest by thine own self, and saidst unto them, I will multiply your seed as the stars of heaven, and all this land that I have spoken of will I give unto your seed, and they shall inherit [it] for ever.32:14 And the LORD repented of the evil which he thought to do unto his people.32:15 And Moses turned, and went down from the mount, and the two tables of the testimony [were] in his hand: the tables [were] written on both their sides; on the one side and on the other [were] they written.32:16 And the tables [were] the work of God, and the writing [was] the writing of God, graven upon the tables.32:17 And when Joshua heard the noise of the people as they shouted, he said unto Moses, [There is] a noise of war in the camp.32:18 And he said, [It is] not the voice of [them that] shout for mastery, neither [is it] the voice of [them that] cry for being overcome: [but] the noise of [them that] sing do I hear.32:19 And it came to pass, as soon as he came nigh unto the camp, that he saw the calf, and the dancing: and Moses' anger waxed hot, and he cast the tables out of his hands, and brake them beneath the mount.32:20 And he took the calf which they had made, and burnt [it] in the fire, and ground [it] to powder, and strowed [it] upon the water, and made the children of Israel drink [of it].
